Ignacio Gómez-Sancha, Managing Partner of the Madrid office of Latham & Watkins, advises Spanish and multinational clients on their most complex cross-border transactions.

Mr. Gómez-Sancha leverages extensive experience advising on Spain’s largest corporate transactions, both in private practice and as in-house counsel, to help institutional investors, investment banks, private equity funds, and public companies navigate:

  • Equity capital markets, including private placements and initial public offerings (IPOs)
  • Public and private M&A
  • Private equity and takeover transactions

He served as the General Counsel of Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME), the Spanish stock exchange operator, and as a member of the Consultative Committee of the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores, the Spanish Securities and Exchange Commission. He also represented Spain before the European Commission and Unidroit in several international conventions and drafting committees.

Mr. Gómez-Sancha now serves as Secretary of the Board of CFA Society Spain.

  • Bain Capital Credit on its investment, alongside Alsea and Alia Capital Partners, in Alsea Europe, a leading European operator of restaurants and coffee shops

    • Sale of Papresa and Cementos Balboa   
    • Takeover and taking private of Telepizza 
  • The Carlyle Group on the mandatory public offering launched for 100% of the shares of Bodegas Bilbaínas, a well-known winery in La Rioja
  • Hyatt Hotels on a prospective takeover bid for NH Hoteles
  • Orange on acquiring Suma Operador de Telecomunicaciones, a mobile virtual network operator, by means of exercising a right of first refusal
