The Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) has announced its issuance of US$3 billion worth of dollar bonds to foreign investors. The transaction represents the largest-ever non-government issuance of foreign currency bonds among local institutions in South Korea.
The bonds are registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The issuance included three tranches of 3-year bonds worth US$1 billion, another US$1 billion in 5-year bonds, and US$1 billion worth of debt that will mature in 10 years. Among the issued bonds, US$1 billion worth of the 10-year bonds are green bonds intended to raise money to support environmental projects and other eco-friendly infrastructure investments by Korean companies.
Latham represented the underwriters in the offering with a team led by Seoul partner Sukjoon (Richard) Lee, with Hong Kong associate Eric Yiu and supported by Yejin Kim and Jee Yoon in Seoul.
