Thomas G. Bost retired from the partnership in December 1999 after practicing law with the firm since 1968. His practice centered around federal, state and local taxation. He has handled numerous tax litigations at the trial and appeals levels for virtually every kind of client. Mr. Bost regularly advised clients on tax issues related to real estate transactions, partnerships, S corporations and real estate investment trusts. In addition, he has substantial experience in California state tax issues, including unitary taxation and property taxation.
Mr. Bost served as chairman of both the American Bar Association's Committee on Standards of Tax Practice and the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Taxation Section. He has published numerous articles on taxation in periodicals including Vanderbilt Law Review, New York University Institute of Federal Taxation, Major Tax Planning and California Lawyer. At the time of his retirement, Mr. Bost served as chairman of the Board of Regents of Pepperdine University and is an adjunct professor of law and a member of the Board of Visitors of Pepperdine University School of Law.
A frequent lecturer on tax issues, Mr. Bost has spoken at the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts Law and Accounting Conference; he served as co-chair of the 1992 NAREIT Law and Accounting Conference. He has appeared before the American Bar Association, the USC Institute of Federal Taxation, the NYU Institute on Federal Taxation, the Tennessee Tax Institute, the Committee for Continuing Education of the Bar, the National Real Estate Development Center and various other real estate and accounting groups.
