Restructuring Partner Named Rising Star

June 28, 2021
Law360 honors Ted Dillman for outstanding professional achievements.

Ted Dillman, a partner in the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins and member of the firm’s Restructuring & Special Situations Practice, has been named a Bankruptcy Rising Star by Law360 for his exceptional professional achievements in the field. The Rising Star awards recognize “attorneys under 40 whose legal accomplishments transcend their age.”

Law360 highlighted that Dillman “represented parties in some of the standout bankruptcy cases of the past year, including the US$1 billion Global Eagle Entertainment Chapter 11 and retail chain Belk Inc.'s record-setting one-day bankruptcy.” Also in the last year Dillman represented Lucky Brand Dungarees in its Chapter 11 cases and going-concern sale transaction and confirmation of its Chapter 11 plan.

In addition, Law360 covered the pro bono services Dillman provided to Think Together, a nonprofit that operates after-school programs in California, whereby he advised Think Together in taking over the operations of another bankrupt nonprofit providing similar services to more than 10,000 students in Los Angeles, to help the operation continue without interruption. Dillman told Law360 that “it was a great opportunity to bring restructuring expertise to a pro bono case."

Dillman represents debtors, creditors, investment funds, and buyers in corporate restructuring, distressed M&A, and out-of-court workouts. He helps clients navigate large-scale corporate bankruptcies, cross-border restructurings, and a variety of special situations transactions across industries. He also represents hedge funds, private equity funds, direct lenders, and strategic buyers in a wide range of challenged M&A and finance matters.

Dillman served as the youngest-ever president of the Financial Lawyers Conference and remains an active member of its Board of Governors.
